Deputy Chief Executive


As a member of the PCC’s executive team Claire supports and advises the PCC in delivering the statutory duties and responsibilities, and provides strategic and operational leadership of the office of the PCC. She works closely with the PCC to enable delivery of the PCC’s vision, strategy and priorities.

Claire’s portfolio is wide ranging. In 2013 she was responsible for developing the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan 2013-2017 which included developing the PCC’s strategic vision, aims and objectives. Claire is also the strategic lead for consultation and community engagement, human resources and strategic communications. In recent months she has been leading on the development of commissioning arrangements for services for victims of crime along with the grant framework for the PCC’s Crime and Disorder Reduction Grants. As lead for performance management Claire is responsible for developing the performance management frameworks to ensure that the PCC’s vision is delivered.

As deputy to the Chief Executive Claire also performs a governance role as Deputy Monitoring Officer in the absence of the Chief Executive/Monitoring Officer, with a remit to draw to the PCC’s attention any actual or possible contraventions of law, maladministration or injustice.

Claire’s long career with policing in Suffolk (Suffolk Constabulary, Suffolk Police Authority and currently the Police and Crime Commissioner) is complemented by her extensive private sector experience which included running her own thriving retail company.
